Vapor Plume
Shot the annual Jones Beach Air Show on Long Island’s south shore today. Sky was really stinky white/grey for most of the morning but by the time the Blue Angels flew, most of the “left side” of me was blue which made for some good shooting. I wish I had a better sky for this shot of a canadian F-18A making a high speed pass right along the beach. The force of the acceleration forces the water in the air to “vaporize” around the contour of the airframe for a moment, then it disappears. I have for years tried to get that moment of peak “vapor plume” and have failed came much closer today, but can still do better…
(as always)
Love the Blue Angels… will have more to post in coming days!
Enjoy!
